FREE TAX PREPARATION NETWORK AT BUFFALO STATE COLLEGEFree Tax Preparation

As a member of the Economic Self-Sufficiency Coalition of Western New York, Buffalo State College’s Continuing Professional Studies is participating in the Free Tax Preparation Network (FTPN). The FTPN prepares quality income tax returns for students, faculty, staff, community members and families of Erie County earning less than $39,000 per year who file Form 1040EZ, Form 1040A or basic Form 1040 Federal tax returns. Volunteer Tax Preparers, trained and certified through the IRS, assist with claiming any special credits and deductions for which individuals may be eligible. There is no charge for these services!

To adequately prepare taxes, individuals should bring the following items, if applicable; photo identification, social security cards for you, your spouse and dependents, wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, from all employers, birth dates for primary, secondary and dependents you will claim on your tax return, interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099), a copy of last year’s Federal and State returns if available, bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit, other relevant information about income and expenses and day care providers’ identification number. To file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.

The site is open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 5:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library Cyberquad room 318 (weekdays) and room 316 (Saturdays) until April 14, 2007. Other sites are available within the surrounding community. For more information, please call Continuing Professional Studies at 878-5907.
