Two Writing Help Desks Opening in Butler

Posted by Dennis Reed, Jr. on February 6, 2007

Students studying.Note: This program is not available over the summer.

The College Writing Program provides tutoring services at two locations in E. H. Butler Library:

(1) Beside the Computing Help Desk in the Reference room there will be a desk, staffed by a student tutor Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Monday through Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

(2) At the Information Commons area there will be a second desk, staffed by professional tutors. These tutors are prepared to work with both ESL (“English as second language”) and native-speaking students, and will be available Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Monday through Thursday, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Graduate students are particularly welcome at this Information Commons station during evening hours.

“Walk-ins” and scheduled appointments will be welcome at each location.

Instructors may also send a referral form with students for whom they want tutors to address specific issues. The form should be returned to the instructor by the tutored student after the tutoring meeting.

Tutoring will also continue as usual at the long established tutoring centers on campus – the Ketchum Hall English Department Writing Center, the Academic Skills Tutoring Center on the third floor of South Wing, and the EOP Tutoring Center on the seventh floor of South Wing. The same referral form may be sent with students to any and all of these centers.

For more information, contact Susan Leist, Director of the Writing Program, at x5401, Ros Park at x5303, or contact the Writing Program Office at x5451.
