Media Pick: The Beatles Anthology

Beatles Anthology VHS tapes“You say you want a revolution
Well you know, we all want to change the world”

Revolutionizing the music industry with 20 No. 1 singles in America, the story of the Beatles and their influence on rock ‘n’ roll is astounding. This set of eight documentary VHS tapes, originally released as a television miniseries in 1995, includes early performance films, interviews, and never-before-heard songs. The collection is available for check out in Media Services (call number ML 421.B4 B42 1996). Viewing rooms are available for your convenience.

Hiroshima Memorial Day Event, Aug. 6th

Co-sponsored by the Western New York Peace Center, The Year of Japan Committee and the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society

The event includes a FREE screening of the anime film, Barefoot Gen at 7pm. Followed by a brief memorial service with floating lanterns at the Lake in the Japanese Garden.

Barefoot Gen is about young 6 year-old Gen and his mother who must survive when their home and family in Hiroshima are destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945. The story is based loosely on the personal experiences of author Keiji Nakazawa.

This critically acclaimed animated feature is considered one of the most important films of its genre.
