The New Library Web Page Design

Welcome to the new E. H. Butler Library Web site. Through focus groups conducted last year and comments we have received from the Buffalo State College community, we re-designed our Web site and we hope you find it helpful. Read on to find out about some of the new features!

Some of the New Features:

Suggestion Box

With the new design, we know that you will have questions and comments, so we’ve made it easier for you to submit them. You will find a suggestion box on the right side of our page along with quick links to some of our frequently requested services. We look forward to hearing from you!

Quick Search Tabs

The five tabs in the top left of our home page now give you access to five ways to search the library resources on our home page:

• Articles+: Search Bengal Select, a collection of 20 of the most popular and frequently used library periodical databases, plus the library catalog. It is part of Bengal Central Search, an excellent place to begin your research, enabling you to simultaneously search a variety of the library’s online databases, plus the library catalog. In addition to the library home page, you can find customized Bengal Central Search boxes in most Subject Guides.
• Catalog: Search our library collection for books, multimedia materials, archives, and other resources that are available through the library.
• Media: Limit your search to the library’s Media Resources, which offers a diverse array of DVDs, CDs, and videocassettes. Among items of interest, you’ll find the “101 Greatest Screen Plays” DVD collection, a wide variety of boxed music sets, and educational videos covering a broad range of subjects.
• Reserve: Find materials your instructor has reserved specifically for your course.
• WorldCat: When all else fails, try WorldCat to search across libraries worldwide. You might find what you’re looking for at a nearby library.

New Drop Down Menus

Many of the links on our older design have been tucked away in our new drop down menus. They may take some getting used to, but the space saving technique has allowed us to introduce new features on our Web page.

Butler Tips

We wanted to feature useful tips for our library services, while at the same time add some color to our new design. Put the two together and you get the Butler Tips, where you will find a regularly updated feature of a service at E. H. Butler Library.

New in the Library

Here you will find a very small sample of the new books in Butler Library. Hover over the book cover for more information, or click on the book to go to its entry in our library catalog. You can also see a complete list of the books we have received in the past month by clicking “All New Books.”
